6 Mil Poly Sheeting

We must first leave hardwood board bundles in the room to acclimate.

Install 6 mil poly sheeting (vapor barrier) over all areas where wood floor is going to be installed. We will attach poly sheeting to the edges of the walls. Overlap poly sheet joints at least 8 inches. These overlaps must be sealed over their total length with tape. (Fig. B)

Install the optional 3/8” thick perimeter isolation foam vertically around the perimeter of the entire floor, piping, and all other obstacles OR we can leave a ¼” expansion around the perimeter. (Fig. C)

We never mechanically fasten the isolation foam with screws, nails or staples as this will severely diminish the insulation value of the entire floor system.
